This very week in 1974, Barry White was Number One on the UK singles chart, with David Essex at Number Two.
But what was top of the Marvel UK hit parade even as we were all singing along with those legendary artists?
A battery-powered torch can put the kibosh on Dracula? Why has no one ever mentioned this before?
Shang-Chi's back on the cover.
I've no idea what the story inside is. I have a suspicion that Fu Manchu might be involved but don't quote me on that.
I could do with a chair as high as Dr Zaius's; that I might dish out lofty commands to those around me.
I wonder if he has a ladder to get him up there?
The Human Torch gets in Spidey's way in the oft-overlooked John Buscema era of the strip.
That dastardly Dr Doom is up to no good again.
In retrospect, it's amazing that it took so long for Doom to finally come up against the Hulk.
That's a rather overly dramatic POTA cover even by its' usual standards !!
ReplyDeleteThis time around I'm eagerly awaiting each new Marvel title.
ReplyDeletePOTA No.7 was also the final issue featuring Gullivar Jones - did he ever appear again in any Marvel comics ? That Dracula Lives cover looks like the work of Pablo Marcos who drew loads of Marvel UK covers from 1976 to '78 but this must be one of his earliest ones.
ReplyDeleteColin, I don't think Gullivar Jones ever appeared again but I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Gullivar Jones ever appeared in any other UK Marvel comic. However, he appeared in two issues of the b/w Monsters Unleashed and had a cameo in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen's second volume.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Dougie.
