Super-hero movies you want to see!

Avengers Assemble movie poster
Because I always follow Casey Kasem's advice and keep both ears to the ground and my feet in the clouds, I happen to have noticed there's an Avengers movie out at the moment.

Such is my attentiveness that I know all about it.

Apparently, it was written and directed by the late Bert Weedon and stars Scarlet Johnsen as Emma Peel, while Patrick McNee reprises his old role of the Incredible Hulk. I think we all remember his classic line from the old TV shows; "Grab my bowler, Sarah Jane, I do believe I'm turning irradiated."

Sadly, being a low-budget movie with little publicity behind it, it's not likely to do much at the box office. Such is the way with these home-grown British movies. However, coming as it does after a spate of comic book adaptations, it does raise the question of what other super-hero movies one would like to see.

There was a time when I'd have loved to have seen a Killraven movie. Admittedly, that was before I'd reacquainted myself with the comics and realised just how unfilmable they probably were.

I bow to no one in my admiration for Ant-Man but fear the multiplex masses may not be ready yet for one man's battle to escape from within a glass tumbler.

Therefore, I must bow to the inevitable and demand a Defenders movie. Who wouldn't thrill to the sight of the least coordinated super-team of them all fighting the forces of fiendomness?

So, that's me accounted for, but which super-heroes who've yet to hit the big screen would you like to see immortalised in celluloid?

Silver Sable, starring Sybil Danning; Birds of Prey, starring Jill Pantozzi, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Hudson Leick, and Yancy Butler; and Supergirl or Power Girl, starring Jennette McCurdy. I'm a dirty old man.

Marvel: Dr. Strange; Cloak and Dagger; Spider-Woman

DC: Modern Day Batwoman. Kamandi. Metal Men by Pixar.

I usually prefer Marvel, but they've covered most of their great characters already; but I'll throw another vote for Dr Strange (directed by Guillermo del Toro).

I also think the 60's Doom Patrol would make a great movie. They were one of the first instances of DC copying Marvel; a great bunch of misfits!

I'd love to see a Legion of Super Heroes movie - especially if I could be guaranteed to get the part on Mon-El! Also, would like the opportunity to get to choose who plays Shadow Lass in the movie...

Now that it's been mentioned a couple of times - Dr Strange. He's the sort of character who would need a certain type of director - quirky and off-beat - so, yes, Guillermo del Toro would fit the bill nicely. And the technology is good enough nowadays that his world could be portrayed convincingly, without looking too cheesy.

I've been trying to bring myself to write a Dakota North screenplay, with an eye to having Lindsay Lohan in the title role; but so far, alas, nothing has materialised in my text documents.

As far as DC characters go, a Green Arrow picture would be fun to attempt.

Anonymous's comment about Kirby's Fourth World has made me realise that an Eternals movie'd be quite appealing.

What about a Green Lantern movie?

Oh... Really?

R.W. Watkins --

I just saw today that here in the States the CW (at one time this was owned by AOL-Time Warner -- don't know if it still is) will be airing a Green Arrow show next season. I never followed Smallville, so I have no idea if this is related to the character's appearances on the program.

Black Panther, heavily influenced by Priest's run.

The film would stand on its own, but place the character in a position to join the crew in Avengers 2.

Supergirl - but done properly this time. Jessica Alba maybe?

I think the supernatural type characters would make great films: Dr Strange, Deadman , the Spectre - my fav would also be the Legion of Superheroes - or Oor Wullie (written by Irvine Welsh ;0) McScotty

A Defenders film would be great. But the Hulk would have to leave the Avengers, which he did in the comics after issue one as Steve noted. No Nighthawk or Hellcat. Just the original Hulk, Submariner, Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, and Valkyrie.
