The Fantastic Four's all-time greatest villain.

Fantastic Four #100
They say you can judge the quality of man by who his enemies are, which is bad news for some of us, as my deadliest enemy is the "Bossa Nova" setting of any Yamaha keyboard.

But the Fantastic Four are cut from a different cloth; a cloth of unstable molecules. You the public have already decided who Spider-Man's greatest enemy is, and now, in Steve Does Comics' endless quest to find the greatest super-villain of them all, it's time to take a look at Marvel's mightiest quartet.

There can't be many comics that've given us so many classic foes as the FF have. Why, just off the top of my head, I can name the likes of Dr Doom, Galactus, Annihilus, the Super-Skrull, Diablo, the Sentry, Ronan the Accuser, the Mad Thinker and, erm, Paste Pot Pete.

We also shouldn't forget such perennially under-appreciated foes as the Miracle Man, the Molecule Man and Psycho-Man. For that matter, I hear Willie Lumpkin was in the habit of bending Johnny Storm's hot-rod mags in half to get them through the letter box, leaving an unsightly crease in them. The vile so-and-so.

But don't let my ramblings influence you. Simply nominate your favourite Fantastic Four foe and, after a couple of days, I'll put your nominations in a poll. Then, at last, the world can vote for the Fantastic Four's greatest villain of them all.

As the FF were the linchpin of the entire Marvel Universe back in the day, that would put just about every major villain on the ballet.

But I'd have to do with Dr. Doom with the power of the Silver Surfer. Short of that, Galactus 'cause he can eat planet's and things.

ps, I've always liked Diablo 'cause of his name and cool costume but he was quite wimpy, even with Dragon-man.

Doom.Must be.

it's obviously Doom, who hilariously comes SO CLOSE to getting them more than any other villain, but can't overcome being his own worst enemy! :D

The FF and villains were in a ballet? Who knew they liked dancing? (Oh, ballot. Okay, gotcha.)

Doc Doom gets my vote.

I think I'm starting to spot a trend.

And to think I was so confident Paste Pot Pet was going to win. :(

Oh, come on Steve! This is an easy one! Dr Doom! Spidey has never had a clear cut number one villain; but just like Supes has Lex and Batman has the Joker, the FF have Dr Doom.

But, but, did all of Tomazooma's efforts count for nothing?

Well I'm seeing all the love for Victor on here - though surely Galactus would push him close? - but I'm going to shake it up with two who obviously won't win but I kind of like storywise anyway, namely early Sub-Mariner and the Impossible Man!

1. Dr. Doom
2. Frightful Four
3. Hockey-Stick Head
4. The Black Panther (well, Stan did claim he was a villain in ads for FF #52).

Let’s not go for Dr. Doom that is so obvious. If I was in Reed Richards shoes it would be the Sub-Mariner, he got the girl or almost didn’t he? Sue certainly had a twinkle in her eye when he popped his head above the waves. That gotta rankle with Reedy boy for sure. Anyone for The Red Ghost and his Super-Apes? The Commie Bastard! I mean if it wasn’t for them in the first place Reed and his gang would never have gone so recklessly into space without protection from those magical marvelous cosmic rays that transformed them into the FF we all know and love.

All other "villains" are popinjays and jackanapes compared to the Lord of Latveria. Doom has spoken.

Thanks for all your suggestions. The poll's now up, so nominations are now closed. :)

Crystal really outshines Sue in issue #100, as she defeats an entire army all by herself with her elemental power. It is too bad that Stan Lee ever wrote Crystal out of the comic. Quite frankly, I think he did it just so he would not have to change the name from Fantastic Four to Fantastic Five.
